1News' Australian correspondent has tested positive for Covid-19 in Sydney, as Covid cases surge in NSW.

The state on Sunday recorded more than 30,000 new Covid cases, with over 250,000 people in isolation.
Andrew Macfarlane says everyone he knows is “resigned to the fact” that they will get Covid.
The reporter has had three doses of the Covid vaccine, and returned negative rapid tests (RATs) for the two days prior to testing positive on Sunday.

Due to growing Omicron cases, Macfarlane says he isn’t sure how he caught the virus. He was at a festival a few days before, but tested negative for the virus afterwards.
The state of NSW on Saturday upped its restrictions, including a ban on singing and dancing in bars and pubs, and major events could be postponed if they pose a high risk.

“It could have come from anywhere…Every few hours you get a notification (mobile app) of a venue you’ve been to that has been visited by a positive case.”
Despite a scratchy throat and a runny nose, he says he is feeling fine, though he believes it could just be the beginning of the infection.
He says it’s a “big relief” that he has had three doses of the vaccine.
“The reality is, it (vaccine) will stop me from getting a super serious run in.”
Macfarlane will need to remain in isolation for seven days, and return a negative result on day seven before leaving.
Though he has tested positive, NSW Health won’t record his result until they change their systems.
He says there will be thousands of other cases like his which have been confirmed, but not reported.
“I think it is a bit worrying that they aren't recording the rapid tests yet, we won’t have a clear picture until then."

It's quite something when the two of New Zealand's leading Covid-19 experts are saying the Government's own Covid Protection Framework (aka Traffic Light System) is totally inadequate.
“The traffic light system won’t help us very much because it was never designed to dampen down transmission, it was only designed to nudge people towards vaccination” Dr Baker said.

Dr Wilson also says the government ought to require rapid antigen testing for travellers immediately prior to allowing them on flights, in order to relieve the pressure on MIQ.
We think rapid antigen testing should also be employed much wider, so that unvaccinated kiwis do not lose their employment under the Government's "No Jab No Job" mandate.

There’s a rumour doing the rounds on social media that “five children collapsed after getting the jab at the North Shore Eventfinder Stadium and an ambulance was called”.
It *may* have been for anything from heat stroke through to fainting (kids and needles ) through to a serious reaction.
But given the interest in the story, wouldn’t it be great if the authorities fronted up and said either “no this did not happen” or “yes it did happen because….”
And wouldn’t it be great if the media made inquiries, given the level of interest and the potential for innuendo and false conclusions.
Sadly, these questions aren’t being asked - or answered. And that’s a major problem for all of us.

I note the following from a RNZ report:
ACT leader David Seymour was similarly derisive of the approach.
"It's possible to have a peaceful protest but I think what they're doing is far too intense. I think what they need to do is respect the law, respect people's basic property rights and not believe that because they disagree they have the right to trample over a whole lot of other people.
"I mean, they're trespassed, they're breaking the law ... but look, I just think it's rude to set up your tents on someone's lawn - not everyone in New Zealand can do it, what makes them different?"
I support the protest 100 percent.
I know several who have travelled up from Arrowtown including a young mother with her toddler. Good people who work their business and have been destroyed by policies you have supported.
I don't agree with you that my rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are extinguished by a government declaring a pandemic. To me those rights are absolute.
With the ACT party in support we have been locked up and are now excluded from society. We have been shut out of our local swimming pool because literally we don't take the government's recommended medicine and refuse to present the government's ID.
That small indignity after all the misery inflicted upon us as a family was the proverbial straw that broke my back.
If anything, I would wish the protest be more intense given the damage Parliament has inflicted on the people I love and the community of which I am a part.
I have no doubt that in standing up to this tyranny we are a minority, but the smallest minority of them all is the individual, and individuals have rights and their rights have been trampled and destroyed and the people have not been listened to or understood. Our political leaders including you have belittled us and disparaged us.
Somehow I am anti-science and anti-vax. You know me to be neither. But I oppose lockdowns and I oppose mandates. I oppose them for the best reason of them all: I believe in human freedom above all else. I do not want the human spirit squashed and it has been, and it continues to be.
The protest is a little spark of human spirit.
We might be wrong about the madness of staying locked up or whether this or that medicine is ill advised or not but in a free society we all are allowed to be wrong. Indeed, it is through different approaches, and the many mistakes, that we learn and develop. What we are seeing now is only mistakes from government and no learning.
You publicly complain of trespass by which I assume you mean tents on Parliament's lawn and of disruption to traffic. That's nothing to the damage that I have personally witnessed by the policies of lockdown and mandate. And I am only a little corner of just a small part of the country. Your comments suggest you don't understand the suffering being caused when I am sure you do understand.
I don't expect you will change course and I don't need a response. I just wanted to have my say.
I don't write as a former anything. Just as a concerned once citizen now subject.
And to ask you to consider this: what do you expect people to do when their rights are trampled and their lives destroyed while politicians not only refuse to meet with them but belittle them when they protest?
My answer is to fight.

Something that is happening to us but I can't do anything about because all the authorities that i can complain to demand a vaccine passport for face to face hearings .
To anyone who will share this , On the 10th of Dec , our water supply stopped . The landlady tried to blame us but we weren't even home when it stopped and at the same time she took my hose away . said I could water my plants with watering cans . The weight from the cans stirred up my arthriric hips so I started using my other hose . The next day she found it was something else but would not apologise for blaming us . it cost us $80 getting bottled water ( 10ltr & 5ltr bottles ) to keep us going . The next few days we managed to fill our containers at friends until the water gradually came back to 12hrs a day supply . we have had to fill our containers everyday since to keep us going through our morning and evening ablutions . On the 15th of feb . we only had 6hrs 10am to 4pm . 16th the same . 17th 10 -2.50pm . ( had to buy more containers . )
18th feb 10am-5pm .19th 9-5pm. I have looked at tribunal hearings but can't because I haven't got a vaccine passport . What the landlady is doing is called elder abuse . My carer has witnessed it all .

The protest at our parliament has thousands more people added this weekend .Sir Russel Coutts has stated that he will be joining them this week .
Dame Tariana Turia who used to be a Maori party leader has stated that Jacinda Ardern is a socialist . She saw a video of her at a meeting of the organisation Jacinda used to head where they were calling each other comrade and giving what was virtually a nazi salute in greetings .
